I was wondering how many ways there are to take out a competitors site, if any. |
|
And what I can do to protect myself against such attacks? |

You mean rank better than a competitor's site on the search engines - therefore potentially get more traffic to your site? By effectively applying SEO techniques, in hopes of attaining longterm results[1], to your site's contents. |

If you are meaning to try have your competitor's site banned or penalized, then you will have to keep an eye on their sites and wait for them to botch up something that is against "the rules" then go the process of reporting them [although Google states they will not always remove a site from their index ... but I theorize this is because they can use those sites for testing (live examples)] |

Carol [1] by longterm results I am meaning where, in an algo change, your site/pages may shift up and down (with everyone else0 but only by a handful of slots (positions) or able to keep your ranking through such a change. |

No more no less. Some will say there are - but what htose methods are I don't know as I never really been much interested in those kind of tactics. most "dirty tactics" are more aimed, in my opinion, at getting one's site to rank higher than another - but some of those are iffey or short-term effects, and this is where applying SEO for more longterm results can help your site out in those instances. Sorry I can't be of more help than that though. Carol |
