Default sitemaps once again - 07-11-2005 , 12:02 PM

Hi All,

Interesting observation.

I have pages on my site that were put into the sitemap.

They were not spidered yet.

But if you search for site:www.bpp.com.pl they are shown as hits
without cached results.

Best,
Borek

Yes, interesting. Incidentally i can't find your sitemap, by my
readings i expected to find it either at
http://www.bpp.com.pl/sitemap.xml.gz or at
http://www.bpp.com.pl/sitemap.xml or perhaps
http://www.bpp.com.pl/sitemap_index.xml ... but no cigar. Where did
you put it and why?

This is the whole point about Google sitemaps: Google says they are NOT
substitution for normal crawling, but they provide means for getting more
information about pages that are not easy to crawl, such as dynamic ones.
So, they DO accept info about your page that you send them, and it is a
HUGE advantage. Eventually you will get this page crawled as well, but
think of how great it is to start getting traffic before that happens!

Sincerely,
Dmitri

bpp-sitemap.xml

And the only correct answer to "why" is "why not"?

It could be named any way. I have added bpp at the beginning as
I have several domains and this way it is easier to maintain order.

Yesterday G started to spider them - so it took about 10 days for a PR2
site.

As far as I can tell other site (PR3) was not completely spidered yet (11
days since sitemap was first fetched by G).

So much for all the idiots trying to sell their own brand of
Google-maps as the magic key to success in Google. Why aren't I
surprised?
