Default Site search? - 09-22-2006 , 11:13 AM

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a free site search that permits the results to be on a
page that contains my current website design and has no page limitation?

I am using AtomX but they have a limitation on the number of pages that they
will search.

Thanks,

Bob

Hey Bob,

Have you considered some on-site search facilities or programs like Entropy
Search, phpdig and htdig? These can be customised to suit the desired
layout. If your site's content is driven using a database, there is more fun
stuff that you could do...

Surely enough, you could also scrape Google. Although there are no SERP feeds
yet, you could use Ben Hammersley's tool to fetch RSS of 'site:yoursite
something' and then parse it to give you beautifully-formatted HTML.
Additionally, or alternatively, Yahoo offers search API's. But the results
are not great and you need your very large site indexed by them (Yahoo
saturation is much lower for large sites).
