Default Site not listed in Yahoo - 08-11-2004 , 08:33 AM

Hello Group,
I have been reading this group and learning for several months now and I
have a question. I have a site www.bargainmonkey.com that has been around
for a couple of years (as a static site which became a dynamic site a couple
of months ago). In the beginning I used doorway pages to get the traffic
(because I was REALLY green and did not know ANYTHING about promoting a
website and wanted it going as quick as possible). Well, now that it is
dynamic (we have gotten rid of most of the doorway pages) Google and several
other search engines are spidering it daily and we are getting traffic from
those SEs. However, I have not seen a logged visit of the Yahoo spider and
the site is not listed when doing a site:www.bargainmonkey.com (but other
sites I have are listed so I know the command is working). So far this
month the site has only received 9 hits through Yahoo (the previous 2 months
were over 400 for each month). Can anyone tell me why the site is not
listed at Yahoo?

Thank you,

Yup. same ideas I had months ago when we were discussing this in the
Cre8asite forum. Static keyword-rich well-optimised doorway pages for
each category in plain everyday HTML with links to dynamically-created
sub-categories.
See? All roads lead to BB.

Sorry Bill, I guess I don't understand what you are saying. If you are
saying what I think you are saying, that it would be to use doorway pages to
a specific category on a dynamic site? And that will help get a dynamic
site indexed at Yahoo? What about Google (and others) not liking doorway
pages?

Thank you,

Yup. Call them information pages if you will. Mini-sites, perhaps,
with links to dynamic content.

You don't get the dynamic anything indexed at Yahoo. You take a
category and build a static info page or mini-site devoted to it and
get that ranked highly at Yahoo using the same on-page techniques that
worked a year or so ago for Google. From that you provide
dynamically-built links to your inventory, which I remember changes a
lot hence your need for dynamic creation.

What they don't like is pages that go "keyword keyword" ad infinitum
and nothing else. Nothing wrong about a content and keyword rich
information page or mini-site though. As I believe I did say months
ago.

Okay, thank you. I appreciate the explanation. If you were saying this to
me months ago, I do not remember it and apologize for that.

I obviously didn't leave much of an impression.
