Default site index page never 100% correct? - 07-06-2005 , 02:46 PM

Google has always had their own page descrition for my site's index
page! No matter how many times I edit my meta tags and resubmit, hoping
for a change, google always keeps their own site description in there:
"A full service custom photography and design studio. Includes
portfolio."
Why aren't they using my description or snippets like on all of my
other pages?

Thanks.

Yes. (And I'm listed wrong there, too. All of my competitors are listed
under >Colorado, and I'm listed under >Manitou Springs! No matter how
many times I try to get them to move me, I stay. Does my DMOZ category
affect how I search in google?)

Resubmission doesn't invoke any kind of change, it is in fact a
pointless exercise. If you have content on your site that grows, or
chops and changes - fearing the wrath of ergobob here I'll hasten to
stress that I mean you add or subtract pages or enlarge existing ones
with a lot of new content, NOT just do a switcheroo with a few handy
RSS feeds - then Google will re-spider you regularly and update your
pages in the indexes more often too.

I don't know what you mean by "written with SE's in mind". I've tried
to lay out my site for my paying customers to find what they need.

By the way: Is snottily disapproving of a potential client's honest
efforts to better their site a PR strategy for your business, or plain
arrogance? Does it work? If it does, I'll just start telling brides
that only a pro-photographer could make them posibly look pretty. Maybe
it'll work for me too!

Trigga,

Just let it go in one ear and out the other and ignore it. That is the way
John is.

I doubt it if you are a potential client of mine, that's why you ask for
free advice her in the first place.

Just have a look at this sentence:
"We proudly serve all of *Colorado* ( we charge no travel fees for
*Colorado*'s entire Front Range (Denver, *Colorado* Springs, Boulder,
Pueblo, etc.) and Summit and Eagle counties (Breckenridge, Keystone,
Vail, etc.). We are located in Manitou Springs, *Colorado*, within
minutes of *Colorado* Springs, and 45 minutes of Denver or Pueblo. We
provide all of *Colorado* with:"

Can you say Colorado one more time?

You say I treat you "snotty". How do you treat your potential clients?

You call this honest efforts?

I call it keyword stuffing.

If you want my advice: hire a webdesigner and a text writer. How can you
sell visual work (photos) without a good visual presentation?
