Default Single page sandbox? - 10-10-2006 , 09:18 PM

Hi,

I created a new page about a week ago, and it got a lot of IBLs, fast,
from major sites.

I was #1 the next day or so for the main key phrase.

A few days later, gone.

Seems like if a page gets promoted massively even beyond your own control
you're gone from Google?

I am not losing sleep over this, because I probably got hundreds of IBLs,
and I am sure things will catch up eventually, but it looks like some care
must be taken when one promotes a page.

Sadly, this probably is another Google "smart" move to "stop" spammers...
They keep them coming, no matter that this is *no* solution to spam.

IIRC too fast growing links could be treated as "unnatural growth" (sounds
like MtG card name) and trigger some filters. But I don't think it is new.

I used to see this a lot.
Put a new page up, straight in high within 2 or 3 days, then gone.
Wait about a week and it comes back to the high position.
It has started happening again, I think there has been a tweak
in the algo again, your page will probably be back high by the
end of the week.

Yes, if it comes from a well established site it can.

At times. If it is to much to fast yes.

Yes, that is true. I have said this before with to many links.:-) It can
also harm a complete domain if it is all done to quickly.

Yes, spammers find new ways. Point is there isn't a quick solution to SERPs.
SERPs need time and patience. If you got the time and patience then your
SERPs will stay for a long haul if you keep up with them.

John, I sent you an email regarding rewrites. Don't know if it got chewed up
with the spam mail like the other people I have emailed from the group
before.

Normally my pages didn't go, they just dropped several positions. But
yeah, seen that before (called it the tree house once :-). But this was
gone, from top 200 results (IIRC).

Sooner, one day after complaining here :-D.

If this is Google's algorithm, then they need to put those brains they
hire to work on stuff like this. This means that if your site has hot news
and you're the first, every blog and news site that links to you can cause
your own page, with the hot news, to be kicked out of the main SERPs for
that hot news. Crazy.

Yup, but it's crazy if someone writes a story and some sites copy the
first paragraph of that story, and link massively to it, that they can
cause this story to drop out of Google entirely the next day or so.

Anyway, about a day after I wrote my post, I am back :-) Got quite some
IBLs, so that's cool.

No, but I am often very slow with replying to email. I do my best to reply
today. But wrt spam, I am getting more and more tired of it. I read
somewhere that there is an increase of 50% this year alone. I am thinking
about dropping email entirely. Have to think about a way for people to
contact me though. Don't want to use IM for that.

easier.

Phew don't I know it. Within the past 2 days spam mail for me is on a rise
and it is getting past my spam filter. They are finding new ways and it is a
big pain. I hate to change email addies when an email addie is wasted by
spam, but I do as a last resort sometimes. They should leave people's
established email addresses alone!

Thanks will wait, just thought I would let ya know so it wouldn't get chewed
up.:-)

Yes, I've been having the same thing happening with
about a dozen pages I have put up this week, they
disappear from the index completely then within about
3 days they are back in the position where they dropped
from.
I remember it used to be like this about 12 months ago,
but not noticed it happening so much until this week.

I use Mailwasher to automatically clear the crap from the server, then
Eudora. It works great.

Yeah, too good. Mine round up in there. What's the point of losing email
