Hi...I have a web site hosted by a reliable, economical server that has been more than satisfactory except in one regard; timely reporting of web site stats. Two years ago when I first subscribed one could request updated site stats and there they were. Then they announced that because the demand for instant updates slowed down their system, updates were only going to be available once per 24 hours. So, come midnight (their time) one could see the previous days traffic analysis for your site. Little by little that availability has been delayed so that now often you can't see what happened on your site until 6 or more hours into the next day. Granted there isn't any real reason to be following site stats so closely, I admit to that. Still I've been reading about other stat apps than awstats used by my server and wonder what's needed to try some out or if it's possible without having your own pc the online server. Is there a good tutorial on how to do this or are there some proper questions to put to the server folk that would make it doable? They have a lot of services available but nowhere is there any mention of do-it-yourself stats. Anyone been this route before and have advice? Regards, Nick |

Regards, Nick OK...Once again I find what I'm looking for right after giving up and posting for help. I've been looking at a free stat data package Extremetracking.com. Anyone have any experience with this package? Is there anything I should know like perhaps how search engines react to this software on one's site? Apparently it's just a modification of one's html coding and so could be added without a server being inconvenienced by it's adition. Suggestions? |
