Big Bill!

I can't believe you'd be so aggressive. I'm entirely new to this news
group. I've had a look at the FAQ - which hasn't been updated in months
- it does not mention you nor does it tell me what 'top posting' is.

Why would you think I knew what group etiquette is? Who are you to
snipe group etiquette at me? Why would anyone post here if its
patrolled with such hostility!

It is not about this group etiquette, it is about netiquette. And if you
don't know what netiquette is - what are you are doing here?

Me? Was I aggressive?

That Adsense riddled piece of history is nothing to do with us here
anymore.

No room with all the adverts, I suppose.

You get told off for top-posting everywhere, not just here and not
just by me. Anyhoo, what was your question again?

Actually, the FAQ used to mention me, didn't it? Hardly representative
of the group if it doesn't mention me at all, is it?

If it did it would list you as the long term subscriber who never
learnt to snip!

Sheesh bill it took you YEARS to learn to use a sig separator
correctly and that had to be spoon fed you!

So you have no right to preach netiquette to anyone!

Someone new posts one message and they are jumped on like a pack of
hungry wolves on a new born lamb, bill continually doesn't give a shit
about netiquette (rarely snips) and none of you say a thing! That's
not right by any standard.

Have you ever read the STATS for this NG that Roy posts? Every time
bill is the top poster (most posts in a week) and every time he's
listed high for over quoting material, that's bad netiquette he should
be made to stop posting so much quoted material.

Pathetic double standards, you should all wipe that brown stuff off
your noses, I think you went to deep this time!

You also get told off for not snipping, except when you are bill.

Hurmph!

I'm pleased David posted and told the rest of you off. He's shown me
that there are nice and professional people on this group.

I've looked up "top posting" and now understand the concept. Wikipedia
says it is one of a number of styles
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top-posting). Some people like it. Some
people do not like it. The wikipedia page does not say top posting is
banned. The wikipedia page says:

"Those who prefer inline replies, on the other hand, are occasionally
vocal and "evangelizing" on the subject."

I'm used to posting on forums. Forums have FAQs within an easy link of
sign up or posting. Usenet does not. How did anyone expect me to know
the term "top post" in order to Google it? On forums when a new person
posts they are welcomed, usually, and if they have breached netequitte
then they a nicely and politely corrected. No one would use forums
where newbies were descended on with such unwelcome fever.

I can handle people who aren't nice. What surprised and shocked me
about my reception on this group is simply how unprofessional the
"pack" was. You link to your SEO sites in your posts. Anyone and
everyone can see what you just did and they'll know who you are. I
doubt many would-be clients will come to your for an introduction to
search or training day - they'll fear that if they ask the wrong
question that you'll tear their head off.

Actually we used to, but Will Spencer who ran it turned into a
disciple of the school of SEO Dave SEO and plastered it with adverts.
It has nothing to do with the majority of us here any more.

Some people have more hours in the day to spare than most of us here,
sweetie.

Except when they're me, apparently:-)
