Default Search Web Results still down 90% - 08-23-2006 , 04:37 PM

Is anyone having the same problem as I am having with Search Web
Results? Mine have dropped from 19,000 to 700 Web Search Results
overnight and its been like this for almost 2weeks now.

I was told that google's index was in a bit of a muddle but is it
possible that google would let this go on for 2 weeks and not fix the
problem?

My sales have not decreased but I can start to see a dip in traffic
rank through
alexa.com which has me worried.

It's been more like six months. it only just hit you but it's hit
others a lot earlier. It may well be, of course, that your pages
simply won't ever get re-indexed till you get more inbound links.
Google has got a great deal fussier lately about what it chooses to
index.

I am having the same problem. And, we have over 57,000 links to our
site from others. We went from 1st page positioning to not being found
overnight. Google even gives us a ranking of 5 out of 10. I think
their being in a BETA phase has turned up some real serious issues for
them In fact check out some of the search results and you'll discover
that alot of the results are totally irrellevant. By the way, did you
sign up for the sitemap program?

Hey maxchange,
I was thinking of signing up for the google sitemap program but read
some horror stories about sites losing there top natural listings,
getting bumped down or even losing keyword status all together.

I did create an XML sitemap to submit to google sitemaps but I don't
want to make things worse for my site and impede on my revenue.

Forget about alexa, it means nothing.
Only have it installed if you want spyware on your PC.
And take the results from alexa with a pinch of salt.

Mine are going up and up after a very slow growth the past 6 months or so.

Big Bill mentioned that we should really work on building our inbound
links which could help with indexing more pages from our sites.

I am somewhat beyond the ibl stage meaning that my site has enough
momentum to get noticed, and get ibls automatically :-) (keeping track of
them is too much work already, I just peek now and then at some).

But yes, try to get as much ibls as possible, and also I recommend to link
to related information from your site to others, preferable with a good
anchor text (the part between the <a ..> and </a>)

Their new algos tend to do that.
