Default Search Engine for a password protected site - 06-12-2004 , 09:50 AM

Hello Guys,

I have a rather small site which is password protected for
a small group of people (few dozens)

I want to add an internal google-like search
capabilities for this site.

Since I want the site to _remain_ password protected,
solutions involving relying on external robots are,
if I get it right, excluded.

What do you think would be my best bet ?

P.S. I'm a programmer, so, if that's what it
takes, can handle solution which involves coding

Thanks,
Gilad Haimov

You may try one of open source search engines:

Might this do? (atomz.com).

from the FAQ:

I use passwords on my site. Can I still use Atomz Search?

If you use HTTP Basic Authentication to password-protect certain
portions of your site, you can use Atomz Search. Simply go to the
Options page and click on the Passwords link. There you can specify
realms and passwords that can be used by Atomz Search to index your
site.

Have you looked into ht://dig, or any of the other options listed at
http://www.internet-search-engines-f...e-search.shtml ?
