I wanted to change the subject and add something to the group to get
it off someone's racist comment. So I mentioned this tool, which I
have nothing to do with, and is relavant to SEO and some might find
fun. But did not add my links like you do at the bottom of every post
except the last.

Adding links is only reasonable - it provides correspondents with
routes to more information. Since Google adds rel=nofollow keywords
to each such link, there's zero SEO benefit.
