Default Redirecting vs. DNS - 09-27-2004 , 11:54 AM

Does anybody know, whether a Google friendly 301/redirect can be done on the
DNS server?

The 301 redirect is a part of the HTTP protocol handshaking and has nothing
to have with a DNS redirection.
HTTP is related to the web server (e.g. Apache, IIS, etc..)
DNS is related to the domain name server (e.g. named )

Thank's a lot for the answer.

I do know the HTTP part of the answer, but I know almost nothing about DNS.
What do you think about...

....and the sentence "The easier and fastest way is to do it in the DNS
(Domain Name Server) zone of the domain name. Some Web hosting companies
have the proper infrastructure and the right software to perform a 301
Permanent Redirect using this method, and it is suggested you contact one of
them."?
