Default Redirect - 03-17-2006 , 02:23 PM

Hello,

I have a page that was redirected to the same page with a new URL a few
years ago. I now want to assign another new URL and redirect to the new
page.

The first redirect is:

Redirect permanent /safety.html
http://www.usernomics.com/safety-ergonomics.html

The new redirect is:

Redirect permanent /workplace-ergonomics.html
http://www.usernomics.com/ergonomics.html

Should I leave the two as is, or should I rewrite the first one so it points
to the new page?

e.g. Redirect permanent /safety.html
http://www.usernomics.com/ergonomics.html

In summary, it would be A to B and B to C vs. A to C and B to C.

Thanks,

Bob

I would do the latter.

Thanks John. That's what I thought also. Do you know how long it takes for
the redirects to take effect? I checked right after uploading the htaccess
file and it was not redirecting yet.

Thanks,

Bob

I got the answer. It is immediate. My problem had to do with putting the
period prior to the htaccess. It is running correctly now.

Thanks,

Bob

Make sure that your browser is not showing the cached version. Hitting the
refresh button with either Ctrl or Shift should do the trick. I have had
in the past that it took me a few refreshes, but if it doesn't work, you
might have made a mistake. Make sure to check the file on the server.

It depends. Seconds, minutes, hours. Depends. If I looked the next day
and it still wasn't working, though, I'd be checking my code.
