If I was to go all over the internet registering on a million different
forums and including my site's url in my profile would that make google give
me better results because of my link popularity?

thanks

Ha, ok.
If it works I'll keep it a secret (j/k).

But if google brings back results based on (at least partly) how many links
to your site there are on the internet then this should work.

my idiot friend still thinks you can type "sex" a million times in the
"background" of your webpage to achieve better google results. duh!!!

However, the link popularity is also scored on the popularity of that
page the link is on. So if the page you are linking from isn't popular
or relevant to your site, it will bassically add nothing to your rankings.

So if the site is popular and I have my url on my profile page, thats gonna
get some results then right?
mark
p.s. how about newsgroups? If I had my url as my autosig would that help
results/rankings?
Think - be too easy to spam, wouldn't it? We'd all be posting like
crazy to everything.

You know, if you're really prepared to do all this work to get good
ranking, here's a thought - why not simply build a good site?
