I have a web site that is rank as number 1 on page 1 for an exact search where you use quotes around the search terms in google, but at an all the words normal search my site is no where to be found. This seems crazy to me and I wonder if anybody else has that happening to them and if anybody knows why that happens and how to fix that if possible? |

This seems crazy to me and I wonder if anybody else has that happening to them and if anybody knows why that happens and how to fix that if possible? It is difficult to help you without looking at the actual search. Any particular reason why you aren't revealing your URL and keywords? As for it seeming "crazy", why would you think that? Do a Google search on [ "electrical engineer resume" ] and my page at <http://www.guymacon.com/> comes out on top. *Do a Google search on [ electrical engineer resume ] (same search, no quotes) and I am #2. *That's because everything about my page (title, etc.) tells Google that the topic of my page is the phrase "electrical engineer resume", while the page at jobbankusa.com is sending Google the message that the topic of that page is the phrase "electrical engineer sample resume." This means that someone searching (no quotes) for the words electrical, engineer, and resume without specifying any order gets the jobbankusa.com page at the top, because both it and my page have all of those words and they have more links to them than I do. *On the other hand, someone searching for the phrase "electrical engineer resume" will see that phrase in my title and on my page, while that particular phrase is not found on the jobbankusa.com page, so it drops off entirely. There is nothing crazy about that; it's just Google figuring out what each page is about, and doing a fine job of it; someone looking for a sample of an electrical engineer resume gets what they are looking for, and someone looking for a resume of an electrical engineer gets what *they* are looking for. *I don't particularly desire someone who is looking for a sample while writing a resume to find my page, and jobbankusa.com doesn't particularly desire someone who is looking to hire an electrical engineer to find their page with the sample resume. -- Guy Macon <http://www.guymacon.com/> Guy Macon <http://www.guymacon.com/ Guy Macon <http://www.guymacon.com/> Guy Macon <http://www.guymacon.com/ Guy Macon <http://www.guymacon.com/> Guy Macon <http://www.guymacon.com/ Guy Macon <http://www.guymacon.com/> Guy Macon <http://www.guymacon.com/ |
