I have tried a few in the past, but they always fail dismally.

I'll even pay a few quid if the tool is right!

Oh.
No need for them. If your site is already spiderable, then why ?
If it is a deep link and you need it spidered quicker, just add it to
your sig in the group. It will get picked up.

Um, just because I was trying to entice the G monster back to re-index
more than just www/root/index.htm and as there is such an issue with
G at the moment I thought a site-map might help the beast, also
providing something like a <title> link to each page for one more text
relative internal link.
That is a google problem. Just hang on whilst they fix it. It may be a
little while yet as they are busy on other gimmicks to worry about
search engines.

As our sales are predominantly product based i.e. each page needs to be
found for that particular product rather than the generic terms my home
page is listed under, it is important to do as much as I can to get
things back to re-index every page as soon as poss.
A lot are in that situation. Are your pages optimized for those terms
though, and where those pages cached before ?

Are you using session ID's and such like ? These won't help, google
problems or not.

You get to see what clickthroughs for what search terms you get in
Google. You get to see what search terms you come up in the serps for.

Clicks are only shown if you are also using Google Analytics. Otherwise
you only see terms you come up for.

Too bad for you. You could have saved a little time and bandwidth on an
additional visit from googlebot when it comes to collect links from your
pages. It's an additional (free) tool. Why not use it?

Also, Google-formatted XML site maps and Google Sitemaps account are two
different things. You can have Sitemap account and have no XML site map on
your site. Google is trying to get webmasters use their Sitemaps and add
nice features to it all the time. They also refer to it as webmaster
console hinting at its importance for a webmaster in interfacing with
Google. The (in?)famous re-inclusion request is only available thru
Sitemaps AFAIK.

I get more than that BB
Anyway, I rarely check them anyway. I don't fret over such things.

I don't need it.
I get enough traffic, my pages are spiderable, I am high enough in the
SERPS, gimmicks like having yet *another* sitemap is not for me.

Yeah ? well, google ain't gonna have me for a customer. I don't need
yet another sitemap.

Why would I need to have a re-inclusion request ? "Keep it white, and
you'll be alright"
