I am trying to figure out what would be the best thing to do for
search engines out of these three options?...

1. example.com/events/ralphs_party_at_als.html
...or...
2. example.com/events/ralphs_party_at_als
...or...
3. example.com/events/ralphs_party_at_als/

I have an idea that #3 is somehow 'better' than #2 but I can't remember
the issue(s).

both #2 & #3 are IMO better than #1 because they hide the plumbing

personally, I prefer hyphens to underscores, so I would probably go with
....

#4. example.com/events/ralphs-party-at-als/
Thanks William,

But why do you prefer "-" instead of "_"? And what do the serach engines
prefer?

I might just go over to alt.internet.search-engines and pose the question
over there too ...
