Hello, I have been in contact with someone who claims that they can get my website on the first page of Google results for our keywords in one week for $1000. My site has been online for about 5 or 6 months and we are generally on the first page of Yahoo and MSN searches for our keywords -- but are absent on Google. We are #1 on MSN for our business name, but the competition is #1 for our business name on Google (!). I've done everything that I know to get listed on Google -- we have lots of back links. Our Page Rank has climbed up to 3 and is rising. There are lots of keywords in the title, |

in the text, the alt and title text, the image names... The code validates except for one "onload" error from Fireworks-generated JavaScript that I never fixed. I would be completely skeptical about a claim to put us on the first page of Google results except that he put an advertisement targeting our keywords and it went to the first page of Google for our keywords in what had to be between 1 and 2 weeks. Can anyone tell me how this was done? I didn't know that it was possible. There are no backlinks to his page that targets our keywords. |
|
I thought I knew a little but about SEO, but I am stumped on this one. I figured that we weren't on Google yet because of the Google "sandbox" effect. Can anyone recommend some good print books about SEO? I've been reading websites, but now I realize I need to get a good book or two. How is it possible to get a page to the first page of Google within one week? I would have thought it is nearly impossible. Thanks |

"Google favors new sites found in this manner so well that they often climb the rankings rapidly, at least for a while. Google seems to give a boost to sites that it finds through these backward links for about a week or two. Then, you're site might disappear while the Google Master Computer chews on all of the new data it receives. Then, after a time, your site's ranking will slowly stabilize. And if you've done it right, you'll end up sitting pretty." |

I would want to know in general terms what the guy will do for his $1000 - if he claims it is secret then walk, you don't want your site banned for some dodgy SEO. As someone mentioned a while back some of these SEOers take on dozens of sites with the hope of at least getting some to rank well and refunding the difference for the rest. Of course this means they are probably not spending much time on each site. |
