Days to months. Forget about submitting, and make sure you have links
to your site from at least several well spidered sites.

ilse.nl are, in my experience, quite quick to add
submissions...which leads me to suspect some other
problem

Dunno about that one. For Google and all the majors inbound links is
all that is needed.
