Default Help with getting a page rank of 1 - 12-01-2006 , 01:15 PM

Hello,

I started up a web site www.dogsandcatspetshop.com about 4 months ago
and I still have a page rank of zero and google still shows I have no
links. I have 2 questions:

1. I only want a page rank of 1 at least. Is there anything on my
site which is stopping me get a page rank of about 1. I acknowledge I
do not deserve a high page rank due to the lack of content, links,
history etc.

2. Is there any reason that google shows my site as having no links.
I actually have about 30 or 40 links. I have read in these newsgroups
that google only shows a few of the links - but surely it should
register at least 1 or 2 links.

I am not in a big rush to get higher in the search engines as this is
not my main business, but I wanted to see if anyone with more
experience could see a major error I have made or overlooked,

Thanks,

Andy Haslam

Hi Andy,

You probably already do have a pagerank. Google only updates (exports) the
toolbar pagerank every 3 months or so. So, the toolbar is still showing the
pagerank you had the last time a pagerank export was done. The toolbar
pagerank isn't the "real" pagerank - just a snapshot of the pagerank at a
particular point in time. Your "real" pagerank - the one Google uses - could
already be 1 or higher.

Hang in there, as the next pagerank export will probably occur in the next
month or so. The last one happened late September / early October.

Similarly, Google only updates their backlinks every few months. And they
never show all the links they've found, only a representative sample. It's
likely they know about your 30-40 links. The backlink update should come
around the same time as the pagerank update. It will probably show a few
links to your site then.

For a better estimate of how many links there are to your site, search
link:dogsandcatspetshop.com at MSN or
linkdomain:dogsandcatspetshop.com at Yahoo.

While you wait for the Google updates, work on making sure your site's in
order, creating new content, and getting quality (relevant) links to your
website.

Good luck!

cheers ~
Denise

Oh! So, I already have a page rank of 10. Google simply has not
gotten around to updating it, yet.

Like it or not, people go by those silly out of date numbers.
