Most people, though, when entering an affiliate program or wishing to
"do" better at it [or feel it is a lucrative one for their site] will
naturally want to improve their sites and their site's ranking to lure
in more traffic/more chances of people clicking/purchasing. Which
bettering the site's ranking [tightening the content, structuring the
content, getting more IBLs, etc.], for more than one reason, can
possibly have it appear that Google is having a preference "toward
sites with Adsense" when there is actually more to it than that.

The bot used to spider sites for Adsense is separate from the main
indexing bot [like the image spider is also separate] so no edge there
when you think about it. In terms of indexing of new pages - my new
content is indexed just the same [time wise] as it was before I joined
Adsense and, in some cases, before I add the Adsense snippet to those
pages. So I can't say I have noticed a preference.

Also, recall that Google's algorithem is not the same as Yahoo or
MSN's algo so there will be some differences in some of the SERPs
between the 3. So someone ranking better on Google than on Yahoo or
MSN may just be hitting things that Google is leaning toward [in their
algo].

There would really not be a reason for Google to have an Adsense
preference on their side. Some of the sites may pass the criteria for
the site owner being accepted into the program but this does not mean
the site owner has a 'great site' at the same time just because of an
affiliate program the site owner is involved with at the time. This
would not be helpful toward Google's oft-stated goal of wishing to
serve up 'relevant results' for a search by using Adsense
participation as some sort of algo criteria.

However I doubt anything said to share that there isn't a preference
will not the suppositiion, conspiracy theories, and gossiping that
Google shares/holds back some kind of favoritism-thoughts toward sites
involved with Adsense and/or Adwords. About once a month, since
Adwords rolled out, there has been people theorizing about a
preference and/or sites 'being held back' based solely on
"participation" and "not participating" thoughts.

Yahoo is also getting ready to roll out their version of text-based
ads affiliate program. So I bet some folks will theorize they are
'held back' in Google due to participating in Yahoo's program and/or
some people will theorize some sites got some perks in Yahoo's SERPs
due to participating [or could be said to be the total opposite and
not doing good therefore Yahoo forcing some kind of relience on the
advertising program].
