In this particular case the drop down menu would be picked up by
most of the search engines, having said that there is very little
content to the page, a bunch of java that doesn't seem to do much
and a far too wordy description.....I'd stick with what you
already have Derek, your two best weighted keywords are
woodturning and gifts, 9500 searches for woodturning on Overture
and 5.8 million pages competing on Alta Vista isn't too bad.
Unless you got very deep pockets forget about getting any traffic
for "gifts", one comment though is that the searches were for
wood turning (i.e. with a space) and I noticed you spell it
without, also there are way too many Derek's on the first page!!

You have a good site map, about 900 inbound links, not bad
Derek!!

Hey Derek

As a matter of fact, this type of menu is somewhat of a prerequisite for
higher rankings for some of the major search engines. I highly recommend
using it provided it isn't overly Javascripted.

Er, it is? I read the opposite, and that you needed to complement one
with normal text links.

Does anyone know if search engines will follow navigation links from
drop down menu forms?

I am looking at a site http://www.linenlacegifts.com/ which uses this
style of navigation and was wondering if there are any drawbacks.

TIA
