We're pushing the limits of our current hosting package and _may_ need to
migrate to another server with new I.P. address etc etc.

A big pain I know.:-)

I'm a little worried as to whether this will mess up current S.E.
positions?
I know our web site is very space hungry as it's not database driven but
currently it still does what we want and serves us well.

Nope shouldn't. If you get it all done smoothly. Load all the files to the
new host then switch the DNS, once the DNS migrates over because you are
already loaded up on the other host then it will be an almost seamless
transgression.

I can scrape back a bit of space from the accumulated junk, but will still
be pushing it.

Then you need to switch if it is causing problems. Or upgrade the one you
have. What do you have now and what are you looking for?

Not at all. I recently moved hosts and the only change that I noticed
was the increase of visitors

Just keep the old one open for a few days for the DNS to migrate.

It also helps to be able to have control over changing your DNS yourself
also. As we found out when you can get a hold of the host you are changing
from and wanting to do a transfer also....which is different from a
DNS/hosting change.:-)

It also helps to be able to have control over changing your DNS yourself
also. As we found out when you can get a hold of the host you are changing
from and wanting to do a transfer also....which is different from a
DNS/hosting change.:-)

Also helps having it hosted by a hot chick
