I had a similar experience in Jan 2003, when someone mentioned one of my web
pages on www.fark.com with comments that it was the "nerdist page on the
web" and "wow hot bird" etc. I could see the joke and was really quite
amused. It generated several thousand extra downloads for a few days.
The page was http://www.satsig.net/sslist.htm. The increase in the one page
traffic was detectable in the monthly totals, see
http://www.satsig.net/traffic.htm

What was the weblog you refer to?. I have heard of these things but never
tried using one.

* my DAILY average is 700 or so.

I'll try and be brief, here's what happened.

I had a story to tell last night that I thought might be interesting to
the
general internet populous so I contact the owner of a very popular weblog
asking him to publish my story on his blog. He did.

Here's the page I asked him to link to:

and within 2 hours, 1400 hits came in.

It should be interesting when webstats completes its log for July 30th.

Anyway, just sharing an effective way to spread the word.
