Default Question On Ask/Jeeves Paid Submission - 03-05-2004 , 04:58 PM

Recently, I paid the $30 for the ask/jeeves submission. I sort of expected
to be able to list at least one keyword during sign-up. However, they only
ask for the website address. So once it gets listed, exactly what are they
going to rank me on? Will it be something in my meta tags ˇV or something
from the opening page? Or a combination of both?

BTW, while signing up in early February ˇV I got this:

ˇ§Ask Jeeves is currently upgrading the Ask Jeeves/Teoma reporting system.
Due to this upgrade, no new URLs or URL substitutions will be spidered or
refreshed in the Ask Jeeves/Teoma index between January 30 and the last
week of February. Existing URLs will continue to be refreshed on a regular
basis. You will be notified via email when your URLs have been included
into database.ˇ¨

Here it is 3/5/03 and my account still shows ˇ§URL being processedˇ¨
Wondering how long it will take. . . .

I was on the phone with a certain company today about the same thing.
I have had the same experience with a few URLs I submitted for customers.
Apparently, because of the "big switch" that Inktomi and AltaVista is doing
has slowed down the indexing process of AskJeeves. What this has to do with
it is beyond me. I was reassured that the URLs submitted within the last 30
day's would be indexed this weekend. Guess we will have to wait and see.

I wasn't getting listed on ask/jeeves. There doesn't seem to be a free way
to do it. Yahoo & Google listed my site months ago. Doesn't show up when
I go to www.ask.com

Is there another way to do it?

I checked the FAQ at jeeves again and found this:

"Ranking depends upon the content of the web site and its relevancy to user
queries."

I'm fairly new to all this. Still - that seems a little vague. Doesn't
tell me what words will get ranked.

Description META and of course TITLE still are, but that is about all and it
may change soon as a result of abuse.
