Hi Bill,

How do I rid Google and other search engines of my old address?

Use the url removal tool.

I see, thanks! How did you find this? It must have taken some
digging!
Google doesn't make it easy to remove things from the internet.
Yes it does, don't forget running a server is expensive. It's starting
to hurt. Read between the lines a little.. Google are inventing new
PSUs for computers that use very little juice - why do yo think that
is, exactly? I think there's been a big policy change at Google
recentyly, someody got the calculator out and worked out just how much
money it was costing, in hardware terms and leccy etc, land, to index
all teh information there is. So, they've decided just to index the
good stuff and they don't want their indexes cluttered up with out of
date material. Or more affiliate sites that essentially just do the
same thing as the original, which is why loads of Amazon affiliate
sites aren't indexed any more. Google are feeling the pinch.

Old address:
ca.geocities.com/noisewatch (AT) rogers (DOT) com/

This seems to be an email address.

That was the whole problem !!!
I noticed that right away when I set up the site.
Rogers Yahoo forces you to have a web address with an e-mail address
built into it.
It screams out "PLEASE SPAM ME!"

I called them about it several times and asked why only my e-mail
address that has this website address was getting spammed bigtime (my
other e-mail addresses with them remain spam-free). They said it
shouldn't make a difference!!! Yeah right.
I have to wonder if you had it set up correctly.

Quote:
So I deleted the website because of the spam I was receiving at the
related e-mail address. Make sense now?
Yup, kinda.

New address:
http://noisewatch.netfirms.com/

You're a boy for free web space, aren't you? Are you going to be able
to do a 301 from Netfirms when you need to?

Well, this isn't a business. Not making any money from it.
What's a 301?
Never mind!

Thanks!
S'ok!

What??? Great spelling there BB. See everyone makes mistakes. Also, it
really doesn't read and make very much sense. What is "leccy"?:-)

Could have something to do with this :
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6069120.stm

"The star-studded Yes on 87 camp includes former President Bill
Clinton (who this week appeared in an advert for the campaign),
actress Julia Roberts, tycoon Richard Branson and Google co-founder
Larry Page."

Still, if you want to look serious you should invest several bucks into
hosting and domain - these things are dirt cheap these days.

Thanks Borek, you're right. It certainly doesn't look professional at
the moment.
I'll check out some of the other hosts and see what they have to offer.
I'll give you hosting on my server, (which has everything you'll ever
need and more) will even pay for domain registration fees and throw
some links your way (important for SEO) will get your home page to PR4
at least.

In return one AdSense ad on every page, same as Netfirms but we'll get
to choose the size/location, since you use a framed site wouldn't want
ads on your menu or logo area (like Netfirms does).

If you decided to move to another host later on you can buy the domain
from me at one years registration fee (what you'd pay anyway) + any
transfer fees (inexpensive) and I'll transfer it to you.

Drop me an email via DavidPS (AT) MAseo-gold (DOT) com (minus PS and MA) if
interested. If anyone else wants free hosting with the above sort of
deal LMK.

Trust me. Everyone who sets up a website with a Rogers Yahoo e-mail
account gets their e-mail address broadcast, (for free) inside their
web address.
It's the stupidest idea ever! I didn't have to do anything special to
'set it up'.
It's all done automatically. You can't choose your web address in any
way, shape or form.
