Default Problems disabling/uninstalling google toolbar - 11-18-2005 , 11:28 AM

I did uninstall Google toolbar in our computer. My husband and I each
have a log in name. In my husband's login name, the default is still
google after we type in an http address at the top. There is no google
logo to the left, rather an "explorer" icon. Why is google the default
search engine on his log in name and not mine? How do I disable
Google and have it be MSN search engine default instead in his log in
name? I have MSN toolbar in my and his log in name and in control
panel, add/remove programs, Google is not listed since I uninstalled
it. A bit confusing putting this into words, sorry.

If you click on the search button on your IE toolbar you'll see a
customise option. Have a fiddle in there.

Set your start up page to what you want using
tools... options... home page

If you want a choice of SE stick a plain page with search enigne links
on as your start up
eg:
http://www.christmasfreebies.co.uk/search.htm

(You can add whatever links you want to a simple page and have all
your fav links on your start page - eg: news,. tv guide etc etc)

Thanks. I have tried that and my home page is not set to Google.com.
I have had the home page set to a plain page for quite some time, not
Google.

For some reason, if I type a subject that I want to search for in the
address line, (where you type in your http:// address in) it brings up
a google browser result list, rather than msn browser result list. I
actually have to type in msn.com or dogpile.com into the http area then
click on desired link, then do a search within that area.

I can always set the page to dogpile.com or msn.com and use their
browser, but I cannot figure out why after I uninstalled the google
toolbar, why Google's icon is not showing, yet in the explorer address
area it defaults to a Google search. Very confusing. I just prefer
either MSN or Dogpile and would like to figure this inconsistency out.
Thanks
