Default Practical Web Pages Magazine say what .Net magazine said - 06-05-2004 , 01:01 PM

In short, they republish the stuff the Google employee said in .net
magazine that I reported on a few days ago. In fact, they publish a
few things from .net. Do I get a reduction in my subscription?
Ho-ho-ho.

They are all pretty poor compared to publications like PC Pro. I have just
in the last week, read the last 3 months of .net & Internet Works as they
were sent to me free to gauge if we would like to advertise in them and the
comment I made to the advertising sales guy is that the content is poor and
they mainly consisted of advertising. I was informed that was the reason
people purchased them, as they were looking for web hosts. I hope thats
true as it can not be for the content.

I had purchased Internet Magazine several times before and felt that had far
better content, (even though they seemed tucked nicely up Fasthosts rear
end) but if this is not around anymore, there is obviously no real market
for such publications. I suppose with the Internet being readily available
and all, the content in any of these magazines is available for free if
people have a little look around and so a paid publication has a much
smaller market.

I certainly had hoped for more with .net but I'm not completely shocked.

I ought to clarify that BB wasn't promoting .net - I badgered him into
kindly posting a summary of an article that someone else had mentioned.

Well, I just thought... y'know...

They are really for people just starting out. I keep all the php
articles as I'm just starting out with that.
Well, truth to tell, I'm more of a non-starter.
