I've had a quick look and I can see there has been an attempt at SEO,
but it's using out dated information that doesn't work any more.

For example you have a title="location Hotel" for most text links. the
title= bit is completely ignored by Google.

The hotel sector is very competitive and with a PR6 home page I'd say
you are over extending your sites a lot. Looks like you have around
14,000 pages online (or indexed at least) which is great, but you are
targeting a very large amount of phrases via the home pages (important
pages).

I see you have multiple sites targeting a lot of locations including
these links at the base of most pages-

Australia | Bali | Brunei | Cambodia | China | England | Fiji |
Germany | Hong Kong | Pakistan | Japan | Korea | Laos | Macau |
Malaysia | Maldives | Myanmar | New Zealand | Philippines | Singapore
| South Africa | Sri Lanka | Taiwan | Thailand | UAE | Vietnam

The problem with doing this is you are telling Google etc... every
page has some importance for those words below and as importantly the
anchor text isn't specific enough. You aren't after the phrase Hong
Kong you are after Hong Kong Hotels or Hong Kong Travel etc...

You have also doubled up your content, i.e. -

http://www.asiahotels.net/bali-islandhotels/index.shtml
http://www.bali-islandhotels.net/

And linked to both from the same pages!!

This to me is a waste of links (and time).

Due to the number of pages you have I'm sure you already get thousands
of visitors a day, but you could get many more if you used your
resources better.

Be very careful with sites like this http://www.linkalizer.com/ Google
doesn't like this type of program.

What should I be using for the links in order to best optimise them for the
targeted keyword?

Thx,

Not Dave - but ....

Title="" is mainly for accessibility thoughts - so I use them on my
links, as I try to have my sites accessible as possible, but not
thinking SEO behind the reason why I am.

One way to optimize the links is through the text used to anchor those
links with. Optimal Anchor
Text

You need to use them in the links. It's called anchor text.
