Default this place is more a slagfest then a usergroup - 10-06-2003 , 06:52 PM

now I know why I don't come in here much these days. The place is full
of people trying to get one over each other.

A newbie comes in and posts on top or in caps or whatever, then a recent
newbie tries to come out all superior.

I find this insulting and of no value to anyone, especially to the
newbie. Why not just drop in the odd bit of advice instead of being so
condescending.

If a newbie says I use outlook express and don't know my way around why
not point them to another news reader I use http://nnr.freeservers.com/
Noworyta News Reader and its great and freeware.

Why not be more polite, (ok the Trolls are open season).

That's my few cents worth anyway

I've been posting on usenet for years and I've never heard this much whining
about top posting. Ok, so I top posted. I'll go squirt some hot sauce in
my eyes and shove a rabid wolverine down my pants. If everyone could get
over themselves and just help each other out a little, this group would be
a better place in general.

Ah, Alex, it is people like you who invented civilization,
and many other useful social institutions, as well, no
doubt. Alas, the bulk of human DNA is just trying to
reproduce, and therefore upholding the value of the
civilization that your DNA forebears created is not among
their small repertoire of activities. For them it is fuck or
be fucked, and that's all they know. Sadly, usenet is only
an intellectual microcosm of the world of DNA.

Sorry to be the bringer of such sad tidings, but there it
is.

I disagree. It is the top-posting police who invented civilisations. The
top-posters represent anarchy, bottom-posters represent liberalism - caring,
sharing, consideration.

Tell me about it, I have being on the net now in its many guises for
over 10 years from the bullten board days. In many chat rooms and chat
software and have made many friends accross the world. But I have not
seen such crap spouting from a few people attacking the newbies
anywhere. From the purile chat rooms where you expect it. This is a
place where people come share thoughts ask for help etc. They do not
expect to be assulted from the start. I remember not so long ago a few
people who were new to this group and they too "top posted" but were not
assulted but asked and guided not to do this. NOw they are SEO 'experts'
and rude to boot!

In my eyes, these guys are are trolls in waiting!
