Default OT:ish IE & Favicon - 03-14-2008 , 08:22 AM

Is there a way of getting IE to display your favicon.ico in the URL
address bar even if it's not saved as a favourite?

By browser trickery rather than brute force?

Cheers

First, make sure the file is actually called favicon.ico . IE<7
specifically looks for that file name, and will create a 404 in your
logs if you have eg, example.ico.

Even with the correct file name, there is no way other than putting a
gun to the user's head, to have the favicon show up without the user
bookmarking it. Additionally, if the user clears the cache, those icons
can be lost.

Hi Adrienne,
I thought that might be the case.
It works fine in Firefox

No problem.
