Default OT: CMS recommendations? - 11-12-2004 , 01:19 PM

a bit off topic but I'm looking for windows based CMS recommendations.

obviously http://www.cmswatch.com/ is always a good start, but is
anyone using something their customers really like? or as SEO's do
you not get involved at that level? I find after I do a design and
need to hand off, I dont want them mucking around with dreamweaver too
much.

any suggestions? mid-priced and useful-- is that an oxymoron in this
software field yet?

thanks
dale

Typo3, but it is resource intensive. Might not be able to put it on a shared
server. (Requires 25 available meg memory. Many/most hosts will limit
script memory usage to 8 meg or less.) http://typo3.com/

phpWebSite, but it is not SE friendly. Have to do some hacking and mod
rewrite. http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/

Contentor - Lightweight, customizable and SE friendly, but somewhat limited.
Have to run multiple scripts in different folders if you are doing a large
site. http://contentor.net/

All the above are Open Source.

Thanks for the suggestions, John. gotta love the "brave gnu world" of
open source, huh? typo3 looks very interesting, im going to give
it a test run in a couple of weeks when i have a few spare minutes.

thanks for the heads up on script size, certainly something i would
*not* have thought to check upfront. good call, that.

Ours is pretty seo friendly and easy to use. We run our own site on it
http://telford.RuntimeUK.com and have about 25 or so out in the wild!

Contact us for pricing options.
