Hi, I am managing a .org domain for a UK site. It has been going for a while and I have done some SEO work and find that, for example, it is listed on #1 spot on google.de but google.co.uk does not list the site on page 1, 2 or 3 which is strange. I can't figure out why this is. Can anyone explain? Can I do something about this? Thanks Christoph |

Is it a genuine .org? Or is it a business site that couldn't get the .com or .co.uk? Not that this is necessarily significant, I hasten to add. BB -- http://www.kruse.co.uk/http://www.fa...posters.co.uk/ |

Is it hosted on a UK based server? If it's not then I suggest you move it to one and then it should rank in UK searches. Jez. |

Yes, it is hosted in the UK for that reason, and has got some links from highly ranked sites to it, too. As I say, I could watch it creep up the rankings on the google.de and .com but not on .co.uk? Are you absolutely certain that it is *actually* hosted in the UK? I have had hosts lie about where there servers are physically located. The other thing could be that if you have too many US or rest of world links then google might think that it deserves to rank in other countries than the UK. Don't know if anyone can prove / disprove that theory? How long has this been going on? That is another issue. If it's very recent then you may see some changes in the UK ranking. Jez. |

Jez. - Well, is it hosted on a UK server? Yes, as certain as I can be - have traced it via this http://www.tracemyip.org/ and it says it's in the Uk and the host says they are in the UK - No links go out from the site other than to the client's main website which is ranked highly in Google - The domain has been around for about 6 months now, the site for about 3. I know it's not that long but then why does it rank on .de and .com? Thanks again for your help Christoph |

Well, it's a charity in the UK and the org.uk was taken, although as you say, I can't see that this would make a difference? Christoph Is it a genuine .org?
