Default number one. and my front page. - 01-06-2006 , 08:26 AM

www.pennylanemusic.co.uk

Hi im making specific pages to tag onto my site (HTML pages) and was ust
about to change the front page text to internlink all on advice.

My front page can I optimise that you think ?? as looking at the source
i.e what G will see it's all PHP includes and suck like not real text

My main competition for key words 'electric guitars' has the same
situation (with asp) and he is number one
http://www.soundslive.co.uk/

Im sure I can do better than that! Ideas? Has he got number one just
from BL's?

http://www.soundslive.co.uk PR 1/10 BL 0
www.pennylanemusic.co.uk PR 4/ 10 BL 46 ( PR's of 3/10 and less )

There is your answer, increase your PR and start getting relevant high PR
BL's. This keyphrase competitor can be displaced but it will require a
sustained effort.

Back links are one thing. They are by no means everything. You should be
able to increase your PageRank significantly ( up to a 4/10 ) on web site
optimization alone. For example, and I'm helping you out a great deal here,
examine this validatior's comment about the 4th and 5th line of coding :

"<HEAD>
<scrip src="snow.js" language="Javascript">
</script>"
Line Message
4 The tag name: "scrip" not found in currently active versions
5 The tag: " head" allows optional end tag. End tag: "script" closes
"head" context.

My validator found over 60 problems with meeting up-to date standards. Some
of the more advanced spiders will penalize the site as a result.

SEO is both an inside and an outside job.

My validator indicates that the head tag closes after the scrip' typo,
therefore no description, no title tag ... would be recorded. Note: I am not
getting into an argument regarding the importance or lack of importance of
head tags.

But that may not answer your question, if the question is "Any proof"
....that advanced spiders will penalize the site as a result of coding
errors. The answer to that is an industry accepted yes. Confuse the spider,
send it on a "merry-go-round, cause it too much difficulty to complete it's
crawl in any way will cause it to turn away and try again later.

I know I speak of robots using personifications, giving them human
qualities. The reason being is that I'm not a programmer, and that's the
best way to explain it, simply. Crawling technologies developed by some
search engines ( and other applications for search technology ) have become
incredibly advanced, in some cases almost to degree of being compared to
artificial intelligence.

The rule of thumb should always be to entice the bot to find as much quality
keyphrase rich content within the site as quickly and efficiently as
possible, within limits of course, not to feed it corrupted coding. Unlike
Internet browser that accomodate for sloppy coding, spiders prefer clean
code.
