Default New competition to Google (well funded) - 08-05-2004 , 08:26 AM






Here is a newer search engine being funded by the person that started
broadcast.com (and sold at the height of the .com bubble)... Mark Cuban.

http://www.icerocket.com/

It displays a screenshot of the webpage as well as listing the ranking of
the site in various search engines. Results includes a line like..

Sources: Wisenut #1, Yahoo #26, MSN #12, Altavista #16, AllTheWeb #12,
Lycos #12

Here is a sample search for alt.internet.search-engines

Seven listings in the top 20 for our top money-generating search term.
That's good for us but I don't know how good that is for a search engine.

And it is using screen images that are completely out of date. My index page
that it shows was changed over 6 months ago! - bit like alexa (which is
probably where it is getting it from)

This is a great meta search engine, one of the best I've ever uses,
super fast and I love the related searches it shows you. I rate this
meta SE a 10+
