Default new algorithm ? - 10-03-2003 , 12:09 PM

Hi NG,
I have a question.
Since yesterday my very well rankin homepage (#8) fall down to position #35
!!! Of corse you know better than me that this is a very bad position !!!
It happend this night... from pos 8 to pos 3 and than boooooom...to position
35.
And now I see a lot of new homepages on the first page that I newer saw
befor...and full of spam.
My question is: did google change it's algorithm ??? And if yes...why in
this absurd way ??? It seems that it agrees with the spammers....

Any way... I appreciate every comment....

Ciao

PLUTO

It's the same algorythm they've been running since august 1st but a
slightly more advanced version of it. Basically google has two
algorythms they run alternately 3 times per year. One algorythm coming
up end of october is their small guy friendly one and the one that's
been going is their big guy spammer friendly one. Haven't you noticed
all the spammer sites being listed in google the past couple of months?
Those will do badly next month and you'll do good again. The spammer
algorythm favors sites that have 100's of usless internal pages for a
cheap way of geting links and the friendly version doesn't care if you
have a million pages.

Goodness, if that's only the "basic" explanation I'd love to know what else
you know about these things. More importantly, where did you find this
information and who told you?

Question to the group.

Do you think Sam makes this up as he goes along (like any good troll)
or do you think he believes it?

I'm assuming it's mostly the former, but you never know.

He's either read a terrible book/resource about seo and now believes firmly
all the wrong things it taught him, or else he's deliberately misleading
everyone.

You'll see I'm right come november. I've lived through this for the past
year and observed very carefully is how I know and have sites listed in
competeitive areas on page one.

His neighbor's dog, I would guess.

Alas, I think he means it.

Trouble is, it's so enjoyable winding the poor guy up...
