Default Need advice on search engine boosting - 11-16-2004 , 04:01 AM

Hi,

I'm a bit new to this area, so I think I need some advice. I keep
getting bombarded with emails offering to boost our search engine
rankings, guaranteed top 10 placements, etc.

Are these companies kosher? Do they deliver? Has anyone experience of
paying money to these people and seeing high class results?

Any input welcomed.

Peter Royle

If I didn't request information from some company about a service they
offered but instead started emailing me - I really doubt I would pay
someone "bombarding me" through email for whatever it was they
offered: SEO, more site traffic, viagra, a larger penis, or whatever.

I think it is humorous a friend of mine gets offers to help boost her
site rankings via the email too ... and she doesn't even have a
personal site.

Last year at work we were so busy with SEO for our sites that we decided to
try two of these companies to take some of the burden, one was incredibly
expensive and mildly effective, the other quite cheap but totally useless.
Our own SEO efforts have been much more fruitfull.

You can learn the basics of SEO in a day, it just takes a few months to put
it into practice and reap the rewards

Have a read here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/seo.html and
http://beta.search.msn.com/docs/site...mizingSite.htm

SEO activity is best seen as making your site friendly for human visitors
and simultaneously making it fully understandable to a search engine
computer. Try to learn the basics of SEO and then apply them when you are
writing web pages. There is plenty of advice on the internet but you won't
go wrong if you only read the Google and MSN search webmaster guidelines
above. The biggest challenge however is writing good content that pleases
and satisfies the searchers needs.
Best regards, Eric.
