Is there any news/rumours to suggest that yahoo are using (or plan to use) the information available to them in the favourites lists people can save in "my yahoo" as part of their ranking algorithms? It seems like a golden source of "what real people think are good sites" information for them to use. |

I think it a bit unlikely - Google has experimented with that sort of data through the Google Toolbar, and I believe they found it too easily manipulated. |

To my mind the strength of Yahoo as a search engine at present is that it produces very different results to Google, and looks more closely at page content. That makes it handy for searches where you don't want the international leader in a vaguely related subject, but specific details of something more obscure. |
