Local directories at Google's top-position... our future?

Hello all

Several searches reveal a local directory-website at the top position.
Should I recommend my customers to advertise in such a directory (as long
as the conditions are OK) or may Google put such pages down soon because
they don't like to link to other linkpages?

Yes, if it is an apropriate directory. Google has always listed my local
directory well.
