Can someone please explain the link to results found by google?

Looking at the results yeilded by google and comparing them to the
results found by Alexa the two sets of results are different.

I have also noticed that on google the Google directory shows

directory.google.com/Top/Business/Agriculture_and_Forestry/
Livestock/Horses_and_Ponies/Sales_and_Marketing/

whilst Alexa shows

directory.google.com/alpha/Top/Business/Agriculture_and_Forestry/
Livestock/Horses_and_Ponies/Sales_and_Marketing/

alpha?

and what is directory-ex.google.com/alpha/Top/Sports/Equestrian/Cha.

Hasn't anyone else noticed that their links from other sites arent
showing up?
When I search links to, there are only a few sites that are linking
back to my one of my sites showing in the SERP's
what has happened to all the data?

Hello Rosalyn
typically google only shows most backlinks of pages that are PR4 or
above that link to you. also the links have to have been noticed by
google before the last update.

Thanks Aron.. but I'm down over 700 backlinks that may or may not have
had a page rank 4 or below.. could this be of any significance? could
it be that's part of whats happened all back links to sites with a PR
of 4 or below have now been dropped?

I'm not convinced because at least 7 of the back links have a PR5 but
they still arent showing...

Hi Rosalynd,
I am being haunted by a couple of questions about linking,
hopefully you could help me to satisfy my query:
1) Links from other pages in the same website: have they the
same weight as the links from other websites, or are they actually
less accounted for page ranking ?
2) Links from windows: one of the pages in my website is actually
a popup window: is the link from this window less weighted than
the links from normal pages ?

I shall greatly appreciate an answer on the two questions, thank you !
