Default Links from non-relevant sites - 04-15-2005 , 07:47 AM

I keep getting link advice from sites selling viagra / phetermine etc etc.
I just ignore them as they don't seem to take note when I ask them not
to link to me. Will they adversely effect page ranking/relevance?

TIA
Pete

Hi Pete
Simple answer, No.
You have no control over inbound links and the search engines know
this.

Exactly... if it did have a detrimental effect on your ranking then
there would be lots of unscrupulous individuals spending their time
creating bad/irrelevant links to their competitors websites.... imagine
what a horrible place the web would be if that were the case!

You have posted a very important Question - something many guys are
worried about. You cannot control who links to your site - the major
search engines like Google and Yahoo! are aware of this problem.
Relax!!!
Welcome to the world of Search Engine Optimization. As long as you
don't participate in any link popularity programs and do not use Free
For All Links its ok.
