Am I correct in thinking that if a site links to mine using a popup
link ie using the code target="_blank"
that Googles search engine can't follow that link If I were to type
link:www.mywebsite.co.uk it wouldnt show. I have had such a link to my
site for over a year now and the link still does not show.

I am a newbie to to all this I would really appreciate ann answer on
this as I havent been able to find one anywhere.

No. All that does is to open into a new window. Nothing else.
But *do* look for rel=nofollow
Do look to see if the page is cached - and *when* - I saw one of my
links the other day and the page hadn't been cached in 14 months !

The way I do it is :

Google:
Via toolbar

MSN and Yahoo
Copy URL and then paste into the search address bar.

I don't think that would stop a spider from following the link, not on
its own. Tried a spider-sim?

It doesn't mean Google doesn't recognise the link, the link: function
doesn't work, simple as that.

Try adding your link to www.ads4links.com

They added my site to about 100 sites straight away.
