Looking at several postings, It appears that links are the only way to fly if you want your site to be published fast and have good rankings. Couple of things I am not clear on. I am not sure who puts links where. Is it I who adds popular links to my site or popular sites add link to my site? If it is I who add popular links to my site, how do I go about finding them and/or what should be the criteria? Is there legal issues with adding links to your site? Thanks in advance |

Install the Google toolbar. Check what the PageRank value is on that particular page in which your web site will appear. If the PR value is the same or better than the one that you will be putting their link on ( your outbound links page ), then it is worth a reciprocal link. Take note though |

Thanks in advance The object of the linking game, if that is something you feel your web site should participate in, is to acquire as many relevant, keyphrase textual links back to your web site while minimizing the amount of links going out of your web site. Now how to get the links. The best way to do this, in one word is : Effort. Many will try to persuade you to take short cuts, but frequently short can be are hazardous. No, the best way to do this is to visit relevant sites. Check to see if they offer a link page. Certainly apply for a link there, if it is free. Those that require reciprocal link backs ( they link to your web site if you link to theirs ) you must consider them carefully. Here's my rule of thumb, which is not perfect, but give me good indicators : Install the Google toolbar. Check what the PageRank value is on that particular page in which your web site will appear. If the PR value is the same or better than the one that you will be putting their link on ( your outbound links page ), then it is worth a reciprocal link. Take note though : You have to actually check their linking pages web site coding to ensure that your link on that page is crawl ( that the search engine spider can navigate through the page to find your link and follow it to your site ). Otherwise, the appearance of your web site link on that page is pointless and help you little. Are you saying I could check google page ranking on a particular page by installing google toolbar? Is there a way to do this without installing google toolbar? |

Does this mean that the new links we have added over the last few months may show some results on the next PR update? |
|
If you could elaborate on how the PR updates work, and how frequently, I would be grateful. |
