Default Link in heading - 05-18-2005 , 11:17 PM

In a new version of a site I intend to put a link in the H1-heading.

Example:
http://www.nicoschuyt.nl/wsw/index.p...tring=algemeen
The link 'Furuno' leads the visitor back to the page of the manufacturer.

Does such a link have a (negative/positive) effect on ranking?? (The keyword
'Furuno' is very important for us)

I've used them to no apparent ill-effect. Frankly it's an unknown as
it would be difficult if not impossible to test for as how could you
isolate it from all other factors?

Hi Nico,

Is that header realy a header for the page or do you use more
headers ?

If so, don't.

Only 1 (and it's really a header IMO :-)

NavNet Radars Furuno

h1>NavNet Radars Furuno</h1
Then it should not be a problem.

I have used them and didn't move up. I removed then and moved up. Nothing
happened when using them so it worked better without. I haven't used them in
a H1, but I am thinking that it wouldn't be a good use for a heading. It
isn't wrong to use them though. I feel that links are already looked at and
given a good weight factor for rankings. Why waste 2 things one item. You
can use a heading elsewhere and it would be better.
