Given that, what do you more experienced people do to grow inbound links from relevant (or at least semi-relevant) sites that have PR3 or 4 reasonably quickly without having to spend much money. |

(yah, I asked this elsewhere also, but I'm trying to get as much input as I can) |

| I'm looking to build some inbound links to a few sites and have been advised to look into buying text links. the problem is that this advice didn't come with any recomendations for where to buy these links without getting ripped off or connected to some kind of linkfarm or link spamming stituation. I would be happy to look for relevant sites and email webmasters asking for a link (even offering to pay 'em for their time and trouble), yet I've read plenty in forums and Usenet to know that such emails are deleted unread by most webmasters. Chances are they will have seen your site in their stats, would have visited your site and will have seen your link back to them. When they see your URL in the title of the email you will have more chance of them not simply deleting it. |

(Which is something I do now and then). |

There is a big difference between referer spam and linking back from a legitimate and related website. Are you saying we should never link out to sites related to ours? |

I say we never should click on links we have made to someone else's site to give the impression that genuine traffic is flowing to that site, or to "ping" their stats, so they see that you've made a link. What you suggested sounds to me like manual referer spam. And people get soon tired of manual, and come up with a scripted solution.... |

Thje principal behind it is that you make webmasters of the similar websites aware of you in an attempt to build up a relationship. |

And a nice relationship it is: a webmaster putting a link on his/her site, and manually clicking on it once or twice a week to get attention.... |
