Layers of what? Are you talking about <LAYER> tags? They've been obsolete
for years...

Google *will* have a go at indexing the text in your Flash movies, but I
don't know much about the subject (having never bothered with Flash).

Usually it's best to use Flash only for non-essential content, and to put
all your important stuff in HTML. Like I said, <LAYER> tags are obsolete so
don't use them. There are plenty of others you could use instead, like <H1>
and <P>.

its just i have the flash site done now, and don't want to sit and
break it up into sections now, like separating the text out to html,
though about using layers so i could just change the text colour to the
same colour as the background, but know thats gona work now, thanks

Place the Flash movie in a frame and the HTML alternative between
<noframes></noframes>

If you want to go the z-index route that would probably be safe so
long as you keep the text specific and explanatory. Have you tried
using the noembed tag?

don't know what this z-index and noembed tag is all about? have you
time to explain, if not thats ok, i'l try and look it up on the
internet, does this all mean that i can place my text on top of my
movie so that i can have my movie playing and then have html text over
the top of it?
