Default Keyword Density & Google Serps - 05-06-2004 , 05:21 AM

Having trawled the Google SERPS for our chosen keywords and others, I remain
unconvinced that keyword density plays anything more than a bit part in
determining where the site appears.

What do you do? Few words, many pages or many words and few pages?

I think you're right. It does only play a bit part. An even smaller bit part
is played by a sites PR. Keyword rich anchor text in incoming links plays a
supporting role. As do Title and H1 tags. There's probably a small cameo
role for ALT tags.

There isn't a single magic bullet for SEO with Google. I think the movie
making analogy is quite an appropriate one, since it takes a vast range of
factors to create a successful film. In the same way, currently, you have to
deal with a range of factors to make a site rank well on Google.

Regards

Have a content-rich Web site. That matters most of all.
Using titles and headings. Meta tags like keywords and description
certainly help, but content matters most of all.

This is excellent advice.
