Default Keyword - 10-09-2003 , 06:59 AM

Hello People.

I have a question for you all. Do you think it is better to have one keyword
for your title - ie. Fast Car, rather that lots ie. Fast cars speed trials
in the UK. If you do a search for 'fast car' on Google the title fast car
comes up as number 1.

Thanks; Pete.

Thats a question that is difficult to answer.

However if you have a title of Fast Cars Speed Trials then that is 4
keywords
Assuming speed trials is also a term you want to do well for then that is
ok. Each keyword will have a density in the title of 25%
for the term Fast Cars each keyword will have a density of 50%

Obviously if you want to attract visitors for the term Fast Cars, then a
title of fast cars will suffice.
If you want to go for more than one of any of the following terms "fast
cars" "speed trials" "fast cars speed trials" etc then the fast car speeds
trials title would be better.

At the end of the day a title on its own will not judge the ranking but it
is an important factor.

I just did a search for fast car.
The number 1 site also has a dmoz link pointing to it which helps.
It also has a decent page rank of 5 and some good inbound links which will
also help.

It depends on what your anticipated customers are going to type in.

If your potential customers for this page use search words in a pattern
like:
aaa 99%
bbb 0.25 %
ccc 0.25%
ddd 0.25%
eee 0.25%
then a one word title "Aaa" is appropriate

If your potential customers for this page use search words in a pattern
like:
fast 49%
cars 49%
ccc 1%
ddd 1%
then "Fast cars." is an appropriate title

If your potential customers for this page use search words in pattern like:
fast 40%
cars 30%
speed 20%
trials 5%
car 5%

then "Fast cars - Fast car speed trials." is an appropriate title

There is a further consideration regarding the exact popularity of each
individual word in isolation. Very common words may need to be played up
and rare words may be played down. Word sequencing also matters so as to
match the 2 and 3 word sequences used by potential customers.

The same theory may be valuably be applied to the <meta description>, <h1>
and <h2> and to all the body text and to the text used in links to the page.
You need to do research into what your wanted customers actually type into
Google. Be careful you don't go round in circles - your log analysis only
tells you about customers that have found your site - you need to dream up
what words were typed by people who did not come to your site but who you
would have liked to come to your site.

Best regards,
Eric www.satsig.net

just make sure that the keywords read across the string, use the overture
tool to accurately identify the popular keyphrases

e.g.

<>web design halifax graphic design and marketing agency uk<>

a string is a line of letters, i mean that viewing any 2 or 3 consicutive
words should match a possible search phrase.
