Default International Hosting and localized results. - 03-09-2006 , 08:39 AM

Two Questions here.
1-I am tracking where users access my site , by key word and position
in the search engine. I get results various results , but when I input
the same url as provided from my statistical program I do not see the
same result and what my program displays.
Example:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=yt...=&start=10&sa=N

This is telling me that specific word has a 10 position under
google.co.uk
However, when I paste that into my browser , I cannot see my site
(www.vacations-abroad.com)

I have been told that this is because results are localized. But I want
to see how my terms are displaying.

2-I am hosting my site in Russia . (Mainly because I have a russian
programmer) Does this affect search engine positions?

This is some shortened version, so of no use here.

No, it tells you were founn somewhere on the second page (between 11th and
20th position).

When you paste this shortened version? Or full, real url?

Should not IMHO.

I pasted the full url into my browser and I cannot find the results on
either the first or second or third page.

OK. Are you aware of the fact that Google has many datacenters that can be
out of sync? When your browser tries to contact google.com it is directed
to the least busy DC (other factors - like your localization and DC
localization - can probably be a factor too). Thus you may see results
from other DC then the user, if the DCs are out sync, these results can
vary. Google does a large hardware/software upgrade at the moment and DCs
are out of sync for at least two months. Logs don't lie, so you may be
sure user have seen your page in the search results.

Check this tool:

from that link.

Great article! A very enjoyable read. You have done your research well and
is very concisely presented. This is an asset to reality.
