What do you mean with "recognize all the keywords"? Meta keywords?

What is a new site?

- a new version of a site on an existing domain?
- a new domain, with a site?

first.

second: meta keywords are ignored by Google.

Much more important are things like: did you use a good title (contents of
title element), did you use h1 for headings, h2 for subheadings, etc. Do
you use anchor text that is meaningful (and has keywords).

If your old site is already in Google it depends on a few things how fast
Google picks it up. I have written a perl program that shows per page how
often a month googlebot visits your site, see Perl link in signature.

For my site, when googlebot visits a page, its new content appears in
Google after 1 (most often) or 2 days.

Let me repeat the bit you missed in John's post:

If that link didn't do it for you, try this one:

About a month ago I tried to convince people not to ploink everything
coming from Google (not here btw).

A week or two ago I started to doubt my plea, and maybe I'll just do what
I wrote back then: whitelist everybody I know that uses GG, and default
ploink. If someone using gg has something useful to say, I'll probably
read it in a reply to him/her, and can whitelist him/her, or reload the
thread.

Off topic: has Dialog better filter handling compared to Xnews? I have
tested it just a day in the past, and never bothered to look into that (I
was more interested in generating sigs on the fly back then).

I've painted them all pink, that way I only respond to GoogleGroupers
if I have too much time on my hands, or if I recognize the poster.

That was my main reason for switching to Dialog - I can filter on
anything in the headers. Dialog also supports scripts and lets you
pick the keyboard shortcuts you like - mine are all set as if I were
using Xnews :-)

I love pink, so I use gray :-) (-4000 or so).

Cool. I am not really that much in customizing, I try to learn the new
shortcuts, no matter how odd they are (don't you love Ctrl+Z in Xnews,
which is not undo, and don't you love the one step only undo, I mean, it's
almost 2006!).

So, yeah, I got used to a Mexican keyboard type I, and am now used to type
II (and somehow can even switch between them without much problems) [1]

[1] Yes, for some reason you can buy at least 2 different kinds of
keyboards here [2], not counting the rare (except when you don't want to
buy one anymore) US layout.

[2] Allmost all "weird characters", you know the one you use all the time
in Perl, are on different keys.
